Dietary Information
We're committed to making our cooking classes safe and enjoyable for everyone. Here's how we handle dietary needs.
At Savory Craft, we believe that great cooking should be accessible to all, regardless of dietary restrictions or food allergies. We regularly accommodate a wide range of dietary needs, and our chefs are trained to modify recipes without sacrificing flavor. The key is communication: the more we know in advance, the better we can prepare.
Common Dietary Accommodations
We can adapt most of our classes for the following diets with at least 72 hours' notice:
- Vegetarian: We'll replace meat-based proteins with plant-based alternatives, mushrooms, legumes, or cheese.
- Vegan: We'll omit all animal products, including dairy, eggs, and honey. Our chefs are skilled with vegan substitutions.
- Gluten-Free: We have gluten-free flour blends, tamari instead of soy sauce, and can adjust most recipes (excluding dedicated bread classes, where alternative grains may be used with notice).
- Nut-Free: We can eliminate tree nuts and peanuts from your menu. Please note our kitchen handles nuts, so we cannot guarantee a completely nut-free environment.
- Dairy-Free: We'll use olive oil, coconut milk, or other plant-based substitutes as needed.
- Low-Sodium / Heart-Healthy: We can reduce salt and suggest alternative seasonings.
Food Allergies
If you have a food allergy, please let us know when you book. Our online booking form includes a "Dietary Restrictions or Notes" field. You can also call or email us directly. For severe allergies (e.g., anaphylactic reactions to peanuts, shellfish, or specific ingredients), we recommend calling us at (503) 728-4916 so we can discuss the menu in detail and determine whether we can safely accommodate you.
While we take every precaution — including separate prep areas and dedicated tools when feasible — our kitchen is not a certified allergen-free facility. Cross-contamination is possible. By booking, you acknowledge and accept this risk.
How to Notify Us
Please inform us of any dietary needs at the time of booking. We recommend a minimum of 72 hours' notice so our team can source ingredients and adjust the menu. Last-minute requests are harder to fulfill, but we'll always do our best.
You can provide this information through:
- The "Dietary Restrictions or Notes" field on our booking form
- An email to [email protected] with your name and class date
- A phone call to (503) 728-4916
What We Can't Do
While we strive to be as flexible as possible, there are some limitations:
- We cannot guarantee a 100% allergen-free environment for airborne or highly sensitive allergies.
- For certain specialized classes (e.g., "Sourdough Bread Mastery"), the curriculum revolves around gluten, so a gluten-free alternative may not replicate the same experience. We'll suggest a more suitable class if necessary.
- We cannot accommodate dietary requests that go against the core concept of a class (e.g., a vegan pasta class that uses eggs in the dough), but we will offer alternative sessions.
Questions?
Our team is happy to discuss your specific needs. Don't hesitate to reach out before booking — we want you to have an outstanding experience.
